This is an exciting opportunity to lead in a senior role as Campaigns and Policy Lead for the Disability Agenda Scotland campaign coalition. The successful applicant will be the driver for developing and leading our campaign agenda, supported by the policy teams of the six member organisations, and working alongside their CEOs. The Campaigns and Policy Lead will be a visionary leader, an excellent communicator, confident in a variety of settings and media and communications platforms, have knowledge of the disabled sector, and proven understanding of opportunities to influence at local, the Scottish and UK Governments and Parliament levels.

Founded in 1998, Disability Agenda Scotland (DAS) is an alliance of Scotland's major disability organisations. Together our experience, expertise and interests cover physical disability, sensory impairment, learning disability, challenging behaviour and mental health problems.

Working closely with the thousands of disabled children, young people and adults, families and carers involved with the member organisations, DAS aims to:

• Influence public policy and legislation.
• Provide a forum for decision makers and influencers to obtain advice and information.
• Promote a better understanding of the diverse experiences, needs and aspirations of disabled people.

In order to lead and deliver our campaign agenda we are looking for candidates who can demonstrate the following:

• Experience of working at a senior level in a campaigns, policy and or communications role within the voluntary sector, or equivalent
• Knowledge of the challenges faces by the disabled people in Scotland and a willingness to acquire in depth knowledge of the key policy and legislative context around this.
• Experience of working with disabled people, or other seldom heard groups, in influencing and campaigning.
• Ability to effectively use evidence, and organise information to produce written material which is engaging, concise and clear.
• Experience of lobbying or campaigning work at a national and/or local level, including experience of working with elected representatives at all levels, and of using a range of campaigning methods.
• Knowledge of the issues facing voluntary sector service providers and how they are affected by changes in health and social care policy

Please note that this role requires travel across Scotland and may include overnight stays. All offers are subject to satisfactory vetting including membership to the PVG scheme.
