ENABLE Scotland is a dynamic and vibrant organisation dedicated to improving the lives of people who have learning disabilities. You should have the drive, commitment and motivation to support people with physical and learning disabilities, striving to make sure they have the same opportunities as everyone else.

We have an exciting vacancy within Kilmarnock for a confident and motivated person to support Jim within his own home and out and about in the community.

Here’s a little more about Jim:
I am looking for a fun and motivated person to join my team of current personal assistants. I like to have a good laugh with my personal assistants as I have a good sense of humor. I communicate using hand signals and my communication aid so I need you to be patient and listen when I am communicating so you understand what I am saying or want.
I enjoy socialising with friends and being part of the community through going out shopping, meeting friends and attending a local music group.
I am a big fan of Kilmarnock football club and enjoy going to the home and away games. Wrestling is a favourite of mine so I like to watch it on television but also go and watch it live at various venues. When in the house I enjoy relaxing and watching movies.
I also have a dog who is a big part of my life and to ensure he keeps good health I need you to support me in taking care of him, walking him, feeding and taking him to any grooming or vet appointments.

I require support throughout the day and sleepovers at night so I need you to be flexible in days and times you can work as the shifts are long hours and will require you to stay overnight in my house with me.
I also require support with personal care so you must be comfortable in supporting me to get changed and have a shower.
I also have a mobility car so I would be looking for someone who holds a drivers licence and is confident driving so they can support me to travel in my car to various locations.

If you think you could share the same interests and have the commitment to support Jim to get the most out of life, this might be the opportunity for you.

If successful your role will include:
Supporting Jim to social activities within the community
Supporting Jim to care for his dog
Supporting Jim to maintain his home and manage his finances

This is a permanent post working 104 hours with sleepovers every 4 weeks and requires full flexibility between 7am - 11pm over 7 days a week. Must be willing to work regular overtime when required.

At ENABLE Scotland we believe in developing all our staff and provide an extensive training programme, combined with a commitment to create career development opportunities including SVQ Level 2. We also provide excellent employee benefits including a Contributory Pension Scheme and an Employee Healthcare Plan.
